Vintage batik tulis from Java. Using a fine copper tool called a canting, the artist draws the design on both front and back in melted wax. Subsequent dye baths and hot water washes to remove the wax create the designs, each of which is particular to the artist. This pattern is fairly rare as it was reserved strictly for royalty. We finished it with a fun antique hand-tied fringe in the deepest indigo. Same fabric front and back.
